  11. After a great start to the season with podium results for Katie Ormerod in the Snowboarding Big Air, last weekend saw the GB Park and Pipe athletes battle against the elements. At the season opening Ski Slopestyle World Cup event in Font Romeu in the French Pyrenees James ‘Woodsy’ Woods qualified in 6th place. Cal Sandieson placed 32nd in his second World Cup with Tyler Harding in 69th after two difficult runs. Four Top-10 Results The girls then stepped up with Katie Summerhayes, Izzy Atkin and Madi Rowlands all progressing to the finals in a world-class field. Unfortunately the difficult conditions continued and the finals were cancelled. This meant the qualification results were used for the final standings, leaving Katie 5th, Izzy 6th, Woodsy 6th and Madi 8th - an incredible start to the Ski Slopestyle season. Katie Summerhayes is a top tip for a podium pace in the 2017 Winter Olympics after her 7th in the final at Sochi. She revealed at the London Ski Show that her favourite ski resort is Breckenridge: Poor weather in Kreischberg Over in Kreischberg, the Britain's snowboarders had to deal with similar challenging weather conditions. Unfortunately, Aimee Fuller and Katie Ormerod finished in 17th and 20th place respectively. In the Men’s event, Jamie Nicholls scored an impressive 93.00 putting him straight through to the final. A tweaked knee in training meant that unfortunately Jamie did not feature in the final and was placed 10th overall. Teammate Billy Morgan landed a perfect front dub 10, back dub 10, cab triple underflip which put him 6th in his heat, but did not qualify for the final, finishing in 11th position. The team is now in Laax for the next instalment of the Slopestyle World Cup series. Best of luck from Kaluma Travel We wish Team GB Park and Pipe team all the best of luck from the Kaluma Travel for the rest of the season and we look forward to seeing them all compete in Pyeongchang at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

  14. And today she got the win!!
  15. Hi - I have skied in Grand Massif several times, staying at Morillon 1100 and Les Carroz. The area isn't huge so I would recommend the wider pass. The Flaine area is different from the rest - more of a big bowl, with fewer trees, but good skiing if the visibility is good. There is one run down into it from the Morillon/Les Carroz area, so it can get busy at half term etc. If you haven't been told by others, everyone loves Marvel - a sweeping green (more like a blue) through trees to Morillon. Enjoy it.
  16. Hi, I'm thinking of buying my first snowboard and looking for something cheap. I'm a low intermediate, have been riding for five weeks over two seasons. I ride on piste mostly, cut off to the sides where I can, but not really venture proper off piste yet. I've rented until now, but would like my own. What do you think? Cheers.
  17. It'll be Jump time of year again soon... and Sir Bradley Wiggins has just signed up! Starting to look like quite a good line up with him, Jade Jones, Louis Tomlinson and Jason Robinson (plus a few I've never heard of).
  18. I've got one of these Olfi cameras and it's great, only drawback is that there's no external mic, but apart from that it's excellent quality, lightweight, compact, very happy with it.
  19. Is this a good technique for getting more snow?
  20. Anyone been to Mayrhofen recently and can report on conditions? thanks.
  21. Has anyone tried the new SkyFly zip line at Ischgl yet?

  23. Fresh snow has fallen in quite a few Austrian resorts yesterday, this being Flachau...
  24. Skiing in St Anton 21 Jan - 4 Feb 17. We are a couple in our 40s looking to meet up for ski and apres. Todd is an expert skier, I am only in my third season so bordering on intermediate. The more the merrier.
  25. Thanks for that Slopey. It is very interesting that you have found the cheap ones to be noticeably inferior to the higher level ones. I have never had any problems with control (except on 1 occasion where I took the edge off some economy skis - but this was fixed overnight by the ski hire shop). My cheap skis go exactly where I want them to go and most years I fall just once or sometimes twice during the whole week. I still haven't booked this season's skis so I may give the others a try but I'd be interested to know of any other views out there. Chris
  26. These have now been taken - I put them up on the local Freecycle
